Who we are
Our Daily Bible Companion (“ODBC”) is an access-code Bible-study and reflection app for couples, operated by its owner in Ontario, Canada. Privacy questions and requests (access, correction or deletion): ourdailybiblecompanion@proton.me.
What we collect
- Account: your email address, your name (and optional nickname), and a password that is stored only in scrambled (hashed) form.
- What you enter: journal entries, prayers, study notes, answers to questions, and your choices in the app. An optional personal-care setting is private to you.
- Connection: whether you have connected with a partner, and the name and nickname your partner sees.
- Records: when you accepted the sign-up notice and which version, and basic security records such as sign-ins.
Private and shared
What is private (mine) is not shown to your partner. What is shared (ours) is built for the two of you. In Discover Us you each answer independently, and results are revealed only when you are both ready. The people who run ODBC are not able to read couples’ content through the app’s staff pages. Technical access to stored data by the service providers below, or by the owner as the system administrator, is possible in principle, and is limited to what is needed to run and fix the service.
Where it is stored and who helps us run it
- Hosting: Vercel.
- Database: Neon (PostgreSQL), in a data centre in the United States (AWS US East, Ohio).
- Email (invitations and notices): Resend.
Your information is therefore stored and processed outside Canada, and may be accessible to authorities in those places under their laws. We do not sell your information, show advertising, or use analytics trackers on this website.
AI and Scripture
If AI features are switched on, the text you type into those features may be sent to the AI provider to produce a reply. ODBC does not use your content to train AI models. Scripture text is shown only from sources ODBC is permitted to use, and is never altered.
Your choices
In Settings you can download a copy of your data and delete your account, which erases your information from the app. Backups kept by our providers may hold copies for a limited time before they expire. You can also write to the address above to ask for access, correction or deletion.
Keeping it safe
Data is encrypted in transit. Access is restricted to named accounts, and staff pages show invitations only. No system is perfectly secure. If a breach affecting you occurs, we will tell you as the law requires.
Children
ODBC is for adults 18 and over.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that matters, we will tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect.
